FAST-NU Lahore manages to hold this awesome gaming gala every year that happens to be the biggest in Lahore. This year too they are going for it with a total of $1000 prize money up for grabs! G3n.X started off in 2005 in a wave of tournaments that took the scene by storm, and today it’s known for it’s size and the toughness of competition. G3n.X like many other institute based gaming events is solely run by avid gamers from those institutes who are gaming fanatics. They themselves have a huge amount of techinical and logicistical knowledge about holding such massive tournaments, and are up to date with the latest formats and rules of various games. This time round the G3n.X people intend to give out $500 dollars to the winners and runners of DOTA and CounterStrike (CS 1.6). With other games receiving a handsome amount too. Tournaments like these not only encourage entrepreneurship amongst students, it gives them new career paths and career goals. Some of them want to become game developers, some of want to be a part of a gaming clan in the future, or some simply want to be a good gamers. Location: Beatties Ford Road Calling all gamers ages 18 and over! Come join us for a gaming night, featuring Alienware laptops set up for LAN gaming, Xboxes, and the Wii. The event will include the following games for LAN play: Madden 07, Age of Empires III, Call of Duty 2, and Need for Speed: MOST WANTED. I went to the Reloaded festival over the weekend just gone, it was awesome save for the lack of toilets (2 between 400 != good) and complete lack of decently quiet, not bright, comfortable sleeping area and the idiot who made the police come in. A bit tough on the mind, as I was still a tad zombified yesterday, but now I’m back up to normal. Wookie did a wonderful job with the event even though people will always find something to complain about (and did). The main complaint was that the competitions were not ran on time, or ran way overtime (i.e. the CS:S grand final ending hours after the event was supposed to finish) I didn’t take as many photos as last time, mostly because I found other things to do, such as walking around and telling people to shut down their DC++ and FTP servers as they were lagging the network. There was some Team Fortress 2 playing as well, which is now my favourite game (having racked up ~24 hours on it, I might also be addicted) which was fun listening to people shouting out as well as sending back a few insults of my own. It was incredibly fun and I won’t blog about it too much here because there’s too much to blog about. In other news, I’m holding another RadarLAN at my dad’s house this coming Friday. As far as I know these are the people who are coming: 1. Me So if people drop out we should still have enough for a decent one.
