The worlds largest computer festival and LAN party, Dreamhack, starts off today. It is a huge event which will draw approximately 15 000 visitors which will bring around 8 300 computers. The festival is held in Jönköping, Sweden, this weekend and is almost the biggest event in Sweden, all categories.

Dreamhack started off 12 years ago in the city Malung with only thirty participants and now the event has grown so much people from outside Sweden come visit it. I am currently living in Jönköping and thinks this is great. Lots of people discover our city and we become internationally know. I am not going to Dreamhack though, mostly because I don’t play computer games. I have other reasons too which you will read about further down. (more…)

Well, it’s been a while. The last few weeks have been a blast. I went to two different LANs: PLAN8 and Madlan. I won the Counter Strike Source tournament at both of the events along with the Warsow tournament at PLAN. Probably the most fun I’ve had at a LAN was at Madlan when everyone was playing Call of Duty 4 on LAN. It’s a great, great game. I highly recommend it. It seems though, after playing at these lans that I need to focus my time and effort elsewhere. I’m rather burned out from gaming. I suppose it couldn’t have come at a better time with the semester winding down. We’ll see how things pan out during winter break.

Vinterns DreamHack är den största festivalen någonsin. Med 8 300 datorer slår man nu det officiella världsrekordet inofficiellt slaget (igen), och sammanlagt 15 000 tusen personer förväntas besöka DreamHack som i år har ett extra rekordstort festivalområde på mer än 40 000 kvadratmeter.

Vad gör man på DreamHack?

DreamHack arrangeras i den stora mässanläggningen Elmia i Jönköping. Huvudattraktionen är det så kallade ”lanet”, ett lokalt datornätverk som uppstår under de fyra dagarna och som knyter samman alla tusentals besökares datorer. Man umgås med gamla och nya kompisar, både genom datorn och IRL, och tar del av de många aktiviteterna som DreamHacks partners och utställare står för.
